3 Signs You Should See A Doctor

Everyone gets sick. It is just a part of life. The question on most people's minds is knowing when to go to the doctor when you are sick. There are too many people who avoid going to the doctor because they don't think it is serious enough, and others who go more often than they need to, because they aren't sure if it is serious. Here are some signs that you need to go to the doctor.

1. You Have A Sore Throat, But No Runny Nose

Colds are incredibly common. Everyone at some point in their life will get a cold. Usually these colds can't be treated. They are viruses that you simply must endure. You can take some kind of cold medicine, rest, and keep hydrated, but there is generally no need to see a doctor. However, if you have a sore throat, but no runny nose, this could be a sign of strep throat. Additionally, you might notice that you have a fever with it and the body aches. These are all signs that you should see a doctor.

At the doctor you will get a strep test. This strep test will tell you if you need an antibiotic to treat it. Untreated strep can lead to other illnesses as well as staph infections. This is why you shouldn't ignore symptoms of strep throat. Make sure you get treated right away.

2. Pain in Your Face, Ears, and Teeth

Another common illness that hits many people is a sinus infection. Usually your sinuses are able to drain so even if you get bacteria in the mucous of your sinuses, it will move through your body quick enough that it doesn't turn into an infection. However, a sinus infection hits when your sinuses gets blocked and the bacteria sits.

Usually, you need to wait and see if your sinus infection will go away in a week or so. If it persists longer than that, you should see a doctor. You may need some antibiotics.

3. A Cough That Makes It Hard To Breathe

Lastly, if you or a child has a cough that is affecting their ability to breathe, you need to see a doctor. This could be the sign of an infection of the lungs, such as pneumonia or bronchitis. This can be dangerous for young children, as well as the elderly. This is why you should always consult a doctor if you think you have one of these illnesses.

These are some of the signs that you need to see a doctor or other family medical care professional.
